
Michigan to Close Out Homestand with No. 13 Iowa on Friday

» Michigan is closing out a two-game homestand, hosting No. 13 Iowa to conclude the season series between the teams. U-M and the Hawkeyes faced each other two weeks ago in Iowa City (Jan. 17).
» Michigan has won the last two games at Crisler Center against Iowa, rallying from 10 down on Feb. 5, 2017, and coming back from 17 down on Jan. 7, 2016.
» Fans can get a ticket, hot dog and drink for just $6, with children under 18 receiving free admission to the contest.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (12-9, 3-6 Big Ten) completes a two-game homestand on Friday (Feb. 1), hosting No. 13-ranked Iowa (16-4, 7-2 Big Ten) at Crisler Center. Opening tipoff is scheduled for noon, and the game will be streamed live on BTN Plus. The contest, originally scheduled for Thursday night, was postponed due to continuing inclement weather and the University remaining closed until early Friday morning.Â
• U-M is closing out the season series against Iowa after facing the Hawkeyes for the first time two weeks ago in Iowa City (Jan. 17). Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan State, Indiana and Wisconsin are Michigan's home-and-home opponents this season.
• Michigan has had the most difficult start to Big Ten action of all 14 schools, with its first nine opponents featuring a combined 46-35 record in conference play. Of the nine teams ahead of Michigan in the standings, U-M has already faced eight of them through nine games.
• Michigan has won the last two games against Iowa at Crisler Center, rallying for a come-from-behind win each time. Michigan was down by 12 points with 4:06 remaining in the third quarter before rallying for a 72-70 win on Feb. 5, 2017. That game was sealed by a Nicole Munger layup with 20 seconds remaining. Michigan was down by 17 points with 8:18 remaining in the third quarter on Jan. 7, 2016, and used a 30-13 fourth quarter to complete an 82-75 comeback win over the Hawkeyes.
• Freshman Naz Hillmon has found consistency over the last four games, reaching double figures in each game en route to averaging 17.3 points per game on 64.7 percent shooting. Hillmon scored 16 points at Iowa (Jan. 17) before putting up 20 points and nine rebounds in U-M's come-from-behind win against Ohio State (Jan. 20). Hillmon followed that up with 20 points with nine rebounds at Indiana (Jan. 24). In Michigan's last game against Michigan State (Jan. 27), Hillmon recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She is second among Big Ten freshmen in scoring at 12.6 points per game.
• Freshman Amy Dilk will see a familiar face on the Iowa sideline in Tomi Taiwo. Dilk and Taiwo attended Carmel High School together, leading the Greyhounds to 24 wins and a sectional title as seniors. The pair also represented Carmel on the Indiana All-Star Team.
• The Wolverines are closing a difficult stretch to end January, ending a run of games that included U-M playing No. 11 Maryland (away), No. 13 Iowa (away), Ohio State (home), Indiana (away), No. 22 Michigan State (home) and No. 13 Iowa (home) again. The Big Ten features four teams ranked in the top 25 this week.
• The No. 13-ranked Hawkeyes (16-4, 7-2 Big Ten) have won five consecutive games entering Friday's contest. Megan Gustafson leads the country in scoring with 26.4 points per game while also grabbing 12.9 boards per contest. Hannah Stewart (12.9 ppg), Kathleen Doyle (12.0 ppg) and Tania Davis (10.8 ppg) round out Iowa's double-figure scorers as the Hawkeyes are averaging 80.1 points per contest on 52.1 percent shooting.
