
Wolverines to Begin Battle 4 Atlantis Against Iowa State

» Michigan will open the Battle 4 Atlantis when it squares off against Iowa State on Wednesday (Nov. 27) at noon.
» The Wolverines are making their second trip to the Battle 4 Atlantis, going 2-1 in the 2015 event.

The University of Michigan men's basketball team will open play at the Battle 4 Atlantis against Iowa State on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the Imperial Arena in the Atlantis Resort. The game is scheduled for a noon tipoff on ESPN with Jon Sciambi (play-by-play) and Jimmy Dykes (analyst) as the broadcast crew.
The 2019 Battle 4 Atlantis
• For the second time, Michigan will play in the Bad Boy Motors Battle 4 Atlantis over the Thanksgiving holiday in Paradise Island, Bahamas. The Battle 4 Atlantis has become one of the premiere preseason college basketball tournaments. Hosted at the Atlantis resort, games are played in the Imperial Arena, which is a grand ballroom turned into a basketball venue.
• In the 2015 event, the Wolverines won an 88-68 decision over Elon (Nov. 16) in a pre-travel campus matchup. In the opening round on the island, U-M fell, 74-60, to UConn (Nov. 25) before rallying with a 102-47 win over Charlotte (Nov. 26). U-M closed with a 2-1 record after a 78-72 win over Texas (Nov. 27) to earn a fifth-place finish.
• This year, the Wolverines will open with Iowa State (Nov. 27) in the first round and will go on to face either Alabama or North Carolina on the second day. The final day could see the Wolverines facing any of the other four bracket members -- Gonzaga, Oregon, Seton Hall or Southern Miss.
• There is the potential for U-M to play Oregon twice in a two-week stretch. The Wolverines will host the Ducks at Crisler Center on Dec. 14th.

Who Are the Iowa State Cyclones?
• The Cyclones bring a 3-1 record to the Bahamas after claiming a 73-45 victory over Southern Miss last time out (Nov. 19). Iowa State also has home wins over Mississippi Valley State (110-74) and Northern Illinois (70-52) as well as a loss at Oregon State (80-74) in its lone road game of the season.
• Four players are scoring in double figures, led by 12.5 points per game from Penn State transfer Rasir Bolton. Solomon Young adds 12.0 points per contest, Tyrese Haliburton is chipping in 10.8 points per game and George Conditt is scoring 10.5 points per game.
• Tyrese Haliburton was named to both the Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy Watch Lists. Haliburton was a member of the USA Basketball U19 World Cup gold medal winning team this past summer.
• Steve Prohm is in his fifth season as head coach at Iowa State, having guided the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament in three of his first four seasons. Prohm came to Iowa State following four seasons as the head coach at Murray State.
• Iowa State went 23-12 a season ago, including 9-9 in the Big 12. The Cyclones won the Big 12 Tournament before falling to Ohio State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Series With Iowa State
• Michigan and Iowa State are tied, 5-5, in the all-time series.
• In the 10 games, two have been played at a neutral site, 1986 NCAA Tournament and a 1992 game played at the Palace of Auburn Hills. U-M split those two games as well.
• The last meeting was played in Ames, Iowa, on Nov. 17, 2013, when the Wolverines dropped a 77-70 game at Hilton Coliseum.
• Overall, U-M is 2-0 at home and 3-4 in true road games against Iowa State.

• Isaiah Livers has had two 20-plus point scoring outings in the first four games, including a career-best 24 against Houston Baptist on 9-for-10 shooting.
• After picking up four fouls in the season opener against Appalachian State, Livers has not had a foul in his last three games.
• After starting 2-for-5 (40 percent) from long range in the opener against Appalachian State, Livers is 9-for-15 (60 percent) on three-pointers since.
• In his two games this with 20 points or more (22, Creighton; 24, Houston Baptist), Livers combined to shoot 17-for-22, 8-for-12 from deep and a perfect 4-for-4 on free throws.
• Zavier Simpson posted his first double-double of the season with 22 points and a career-high 14 assists against Houston Baptist. It marks the third point-assist double-dip and his first 20/10 showing.
• Simpson has had four straight games of 6 assists or more and leads the Big Ten with 9.0 per game.
• Simpson's career-best 14 assists against Houston Baptist are the ninth 10-plus assist game of his career. He is tied with Rumeal Robinson for second all-time and needs five more 10-plus assist games to catch U-M's all-time leader Gary Grant (14).
• Starting 2-for-8 in the opener, Simpson is 20-for-31 (64.5 percent) over the next two games.
• Jon Teske is averaging nearly a double-double with his 13.3 points and 9.8 rebounds. He already has two 10-plus rebounding games, including a career-best 13 in the opener against Appalachian State.
• Teske has posted seven-plus rebounds in all four games this season.
• In four games, Teske has eight steals -- nearly a quarter of his prior season-best total of 26 from last season.
• Eli Brooks had as career-best seven steal against Houston Baptist, giving him 15 (3.8 apg) this season.
• Adding his career-best 14 points against Houston Baptist, Colin Castleton has 26 points this season in four games, surpassing his total from his fershman year (21).
• Livers leads U-M with 11 three-pointers. Adding in Brooks' nine, the Wolverine duo has 20 of the 39 total this season.
• Adrien Nunez has made a three-point basket in all four games this season.
