
Michigan Travels to Rutgers for Big Ten Tournament Semifinal

» No. 19-ranked Michigan will play in the B1G Tournament Semifinal for the 15th time; its matchup against No. 15 Rutgers will mark the first time the teams have met in the conference tournament.

The No. 19-ranked and No. 3-seeded University of Michigan women's soccer team will make its 15th overall appearance in the Big Ten Conference Tournament semifinals when it travels to Piscataway, New Jersey, for a Friday (Nov. 8) matchup against No. 15-ranked and No. 2-seeded Rutgers. The match is set to start at 1:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
Meeting for the First Time
• The Wolverines and Scarlet Knights will meet in the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since Rutgers joined the conference in 2014.
• Rutgers holds a 3-1-1 advantage in the all-time series with Michigan, including a 1-0 win over the Wolverines on Oct. 24 in Ann Arbor.
• U-M will take on the Scarlet Knights for the third time at Yurcak Field and will be looking for its first road win against Rutgers.
• Michigan fell, 1-0, to Rutgers on the road in 2017 and earned the lone tie of the series in 2015.
Big Ten Tournament History
• In its 26 years in the Big Ten, Michigan women's soccer has made the conference tournament 19 times, winning the title in 1997 and 1999.
• The Wolverines will make their second straight postseason appearance under head coach Jennifer Klein.
• The Maize and Blue will make an appearance in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal for the first time since 2016, when it fell to Minnesota in Minneapolis.

• Michigan makes its first semifinals appearance since 2016 and its 15th overall.
• The Wolverines' last semifinal win came in 2005, a 2-1 victory over Illinois in Ann Arbor.
• U-M is 6-9-0 all-time in conference tournament semifinal contests.
Where Michigan Ranks
• Michigan is ranked No. 19 in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Poll (Nov. 5). • The Wolverines have been ranked in the top 25 five times this season and have been in the top 20 for the last four weeks.
• In the most recent RPI update, U-M sits 25th, while Rutgers is in 11th.
• Individually, Sarah Stratigakis is tied for 11th nationally with 11 assists.

• Michigan leads the Big Ten pack in assists (39) and assists per game (2.05). Individually, Sarah Stratigakis leads the conference with 11 assists -- including two against Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
• Michigan ranks second in the league with 113 points (5.95 per game), which is a 38-percent increase from last season, when the team notched 82 points.
• The Wolverines also rank second in shots (287) and third in goals (38).
