
U-M Inks Four During Early Signing Period

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan rowing team announced the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent on Tuesday (Dec. 10).
The signing class includes: Zara Collisson, Abigail Dent, Delaney Evans, and Sarah McKay. These student-athletes will join U-M in the fall of 2020 as freshmen.
"We are excited about bringing this group of talented and hard-working student-athletes into our program," said head coach Mark Rothstein. "Each of them fits Michigan Rowing really well and we can't wait to welcome them to campus."
"All four of these future Wolverines are going to play important roles for our program. Together, they are standouts in the classroom and on the water and we think they will continue be valuable team members, student-athletes and citizens on-campus at Michigan.
"We have also secured commitments from a number of other talented and capable athletes in addition to this group who have each signed letters of national intent. As a group, they will form a formidable signing class for Michigan, and they are collectively the kind of leaders and best that we want to cultivate on our roster."

Zara Collisson
• Attends Canberra Girls' Grammar School in Canberra, Australia
• Awarded Full Rowing Colours in 2019
• Named SportsWoman of the Year (2016) at the Australia International School of Singapore
• Vice Captain in both cross country and soccer in 2019
• Won two gold medals at New Zealand Lake Karapiro Christmas Regatta (2018) in U17 eight and coxed quad scull
• Silver medal recipient at U16 World Virtual Indoor Rowing Sprints (1km, 2019)
• Won gold at the 2019 U19 Australia Indoor Rowing Championships
• Scored a pair of silver medals at the 2019 U19 Australian National Championships in the coxed four and schoolgirl coxed four
• Daughter of Caroline and Jim Collisson
Abigail Dent
• Attends Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Kenora, Ontario
• Plans to enroll in the Stephen M. Ross School of Business
• Currently rows with the Kenora Rowing Club and Manitoba Rowing Club
• Rowed with Team Canada at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Tokyo, Japan and finished sixth overall in 1x
• Won gold in junior women's 1x and in the women's U19 double with Team Manitoba at the 2018 Royal Canadian Henley
• Won bronze in the women's 4x with Team Manitoba in the 2017 Canada Summer Games
• St. Thomas Aquinas junior women's athlete of the year (2017) and senior women's athlete of the year (2018)
• Has earned a brown belt in karate
• Daughter of Leanne and Carlton Dent
Delaney Evans
• Attends Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa
• Two-year National Honor Society member
• Plans to enroll in the School of Kinesiology to pursue a career in medicine
• Currently rows with Y Quad Cities Rowing Association in Moline, Illinois
• Two-year competitor as a member of U-19 Team U.S.A. (2018-19)
• Selected for quad (2018) and won 2x trials (2019)
• Indoor World Champion in Junior Women's Lightweight (2018)
• Won the Diamond Jubilee Cup at the Royal Henley Regatta in London (2018) with the Y Quad Cities quad
• Five-time gold medal-winner at USRowing Youth Nationals, winning the LWT 2x (2017), 2x (2018-19), and 4x (2018-19) events
• Three-time gold medal-winner at Head of the Charles (2017-18-19) and course record-holder (2x)
• Daughter of Troy and Colleen Evans
Sarah McKay
• Attends St. Mary's School for Girls in Johannesburg, South Africa
• Recipient of St. Mary's 2019 Athlete of the Year Award
• Awarded full colours for leadership in 2018
• Plans to enroll in U-M's School of Kinesiology
• Currently rows for St. Mary's Rowing Club
• Rowed for RSA at 2019 Junior World Rowing Championships in Tokyo as three-man in a coxed four
• Won gold in the single scull, double scull, and quad at the 2019 South African Rowing Championships
• St. Mary's is the same school as current Wolverines Tayla-May Bentley and Jessica Schoonbee
• Daughter of Matthew and Samantha McKay
