
Plocki Named WCGA Northeast Regional Coach of the Year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics team head coach Bev Plocki was named the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Northeast Regional Coach of the Year on Thursday (April 18).
The honor is the 10th of Plocki's 30-year career as the head coach of the Wolverines. She has been named regional coach of the year each of the last four seasons as well as in 1992, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2010 and 2013.
Plocki has guided U-M to the NCAA Championships weekend for the 24th time in program history, 23 of those appearances coming during her tenure. The Wolverines advanced with a second-place finish at the Ann Arbor NCAA Regional Final on April 6.
This season also has featured a 9-0 Big Ten record to capture the regular-season title and a 197.400 to win the Big Ten Championship for the sixth straight season.
The regional coach of the year honor comes after freshman Natalie Wojcik was named the WCGA Northeast Regional Gymnast of the Year last Wednesday (April 10).
Plocki will lead her team into the NCAA Semifinal first session Thursday (April 19) in Fort Worth, Texas, at noon CDT. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
