Wolverines Selected No. 15 NCAA Seed, Regional Host

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team will be the No. 15 overall seed for the 2019 NCAA Tournament and will host a regional for the 21st time in program history, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday (May 12) on ESPN2. U-M (43-11) is one of 16 schools to host a four-team NCAA Regional tournament with contests running Friday through Sunday (May 17-19) at the Wilpon Softball Complex, home of Alumni Field.
Michigan is joined by regional No. 2 seed James Madison, No. 3 seed DePaul and No. 4 seed St. Francis (Pa.) in the double-elimination event. Michigan will open regional play against St. Francis (29-29) on Friday (May 17) at 4:30 p.m. on ESPNU following the regional opener between James Madison (47-7) and DePaul (34-14), which begins at 2 p.m. The regional winner earns the right to advance to the NCAA Super Regional the following weekend.
Tickets for the regional tournament are priced at $12 for reserved chairback and $10 for reserved bleacher seats. General admission outfield bleacher tickets are $8.
Michigan softball season-ticket holders may purchase tickets on Monday (May 13), from 8:30 a.m. until Tuesday (May 14), at 10 a.m., by logging in to their online account. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Tuesday at noon and may be purchased online at MGoBlue.com/tickets, by phone or in person at the U-M Ticket Office.
All tickets ordered over the phone will be held for will call. Ticket will call on game days will be located near the Wilpon Complex scoreboard at the entrance gate near the U-M Indoor Training Building.
The winner of the regional in Ann Arbor will move on to a Super Regional against the winner of the regional being hosted by UCLA in Los Angeles, California. That regional consists of No. 2 overall seed UCLA, Missouri, Cal State Fullerton and Weber State. The Super Regional is a best-of-three format with the winner advancing to the eight-team Women's College World Series, scheduled for May 30-June 5 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Michigan is making its 27th NCAA Tournament appearance (1992-93, '95-2019) and has earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament every season since 1995. The Wolverines play host to a regional for the 21st time but just the fourth time since 2011. The Wolverines are 82-17 all-time in the NCAA Regional round and have won 18 regional titles.
