
Mueller, US Eight Win Bronze Medal at Senior World Championships

LINZ OTTENSHEIM, Austria -- An exciting day of Sunday (Sept. 1) finals at the World Rowing Championships saw former Wolverine Felice Mueller collect a bronze medal with the U.S. women's eight boat (W8+). The crew finished in 6:01.930 and qualified for the 2020 Olympics in the process.
Racing out of lane three, the U.S. was in close pursuit of Australia which led after the first 500. Australia began to pull away by a couple of seats and New Zealand moved into second position. The U.S. fell a few seats behind near the 1,500-meter mark but continued to fight hard with Canada for the bronze medal.
New Zealand passed Australia in the latter stages of the race and crossed in 5:56.91, with Australia claiming silver in 5:59.63. The U.S. crossed more than a second ahead of Canada (6:03.04).
