SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The University of Michigan baseball team saw its offense go cold in its MLB4 Collegiate Tournament finale, falling, 7-1, to UConn on Sunday (Feb. 16) at Salt River Field at Talking Stick.

The Huskies jumped on the board in the first inning and stayed in control for the rest of the game. The Wolverines (3-1) pieced together some offense in the fourth, as junior Jordan Nwogu singled, advanced to third on two separate errant pickoff attempts, and came in on an infield hit from redshirt sophomore Danny Zimmerman to knot the game at 1.

The tie did not last long, as UConn (1-2) responded with a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning to grab a lead it would never relinquish.

Redshirt sophomore Isaiah Paige (0-1) threw 4.2 innings, giving up two runs, earned, on four hits while walking one. Senior Joe Pace tossed a perfect inning of relief, setting the Huskies down in order and finishing with one strikeout.

Freshman Clark Elliott had the only extra-base hit for U-M on the afternoon, smacking a triple to left-center field in the final frame.

The Wolverines will get their chance to exact revenge on the Huskies next weekend, as Michigan will host UConn, Feb. 21-23, in a three-game set at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
