
Michigan to Host Ohio State for 'A Day at the Movies' Meet

PROMOTIONS
• Feb. 9: A Day at the Movies -- Fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite movie character or for the red carpet. Arrive early as some of your favorite characters will be on the concourse for photos prior to the meet. The first 500 fans will get free popcorn and Michigan movie posters will be available while supplies last.
• Senior Recognition -- Immediately following the meet we will honor Michigan gymnastics senior Lexi Funk.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team will host Ohio State on Sunday (Feb. 9) at Crisler Center for its "AÂ Day at the Movies" meet.
Michigan vs. Ohio State
• No. 8 Michigan will host Ohio State in a Big Ten conference meet at Crisler Center.
• The Wolverines enter the meet with a 5-0 overall record and 3-0 mark in the Big Ten to tie for first place. The Buckeyes are 1-2 in the Big Ten and 3-2 overall.
• U-M is 54-23 all-time against Ohio State with five straight wins and a 54-2 record since 1991. Michigan has not lost to Ohio State in Ann Arbor since 1990.
Big Ten Standings
• Michigan and Minnesota are tied atop the Big Ten standings with a 3-0 record.
• The next three teams all have one conference loss as Maryland, Nebraska and Penn State are 2-1 in the Big Ten.
• The Wolverines are the only team with an undefeated overall record at 5-0.
• After this weekend, the Wolverines will have a road contest at Iowa and then the Elevate the Stage meet in Toledo, Ohio, to finish off the conference season.
Last Time Out
• Michigan posted its best road score of 2020 with a 197.075 to win at Nebraska on Thursday, Jan. 30.
• U-M matched a season high with a 49.325 vault rotation score to help hit the 197.000 mark for the second consecutive week.
• Freshman Sierra Brooks was the all-around champion with a 39.500. She scored her first career 9.900 on vault and hit 9.875 on both balance beam and floor exercise.
• Sophomore Abby Brenner earned the vault title for the second time in her career with a career-high 9.950. She also scored a 9.850 on bars and 9.825 on floor.
Big Ten Weekly Honors
• Brooks was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 4) for the third straight week following an all-around win at Nebraska. Her 39.500 score matched a season high. She scored a 9.900 on vault for the first time in her career and had a 9.875 on both beam and floor.
In the Rankings
• Michigan remained at No. 8 in the Road to National rankings, marking the third straight week in the top 10.
• U-M remains one of the top teams nationally on vault at No. 3 and has four individuals ranked in the top 50 on the event.
• The Wolverines moved up six spots to No. 13 on beam and one spot on floor to No. 10 from last week.
• Individually, U-M appears in the top 50 12 times across the four events and the all-around. Freshman Gabby Wilson is the team's highest-ranked individual at a tie for 13th on vault. Wilson, Brenner and sophomore Maddie Mariani are each ranked on two events. Brooks and sophomore Natalie Wojcik are ranked on two events plus the all-around.
Winning Ways
• Michigan gymnasts have combined for 20 event and all-around titles in just four meets this season.
• Wojcik competed the clean sweep of all four events as well as the all-around against Rutgers and also won floor in the season opener against Washington and Texas Woman's University.
• Wilson has five event titles to her credit with vault wins in all three meets and bars victories against Washington, TWU and Rutgers.
• Brooks also has five titles after winning the all-around for the second time last time out. She has won beam twice and floor once.
• Sophomore Abby Heiskell won bars in two straight meets, senior Lexi Funk shared the beam title at Illinois and Brenner won vault at Nebraska.
Home Slate
• The Wolverines will have two more home meets after this weekend against Ohio State. The next home meet on the calendar will be Friday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. when former U-M gymnast Lindsey Bruck Ayotte '08 brings New Hampshire to Crisler Center.
