ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head softball coach Carol Hutchins announced Monday (April 20) the addition of Kaylee Rodriguez, a middle infielder and utility player from Miami, Florida, to the program's incoming freshman class.
"We are excited welcome Kaylee, or 'K-Rod,' to the Michigan family," said Hutchins. "She is a talented and versatile ballplayer who can play a lot of positions. She hails from one of the best travel-ball organizations in the country, so she has a history and foundation of success. Most importantly, she is a great student who has a competitive desire in the classroom. She is an excellent fit for the University of Michigan."
Rodriguez is a four-time All-Miami Dade County first team honoree at Doral Academy, where she will graduate this spring, and Gulliver Prep. She was having an outstanding senior season, posting a .692 batting average with 19 RBI and seven home runs through 10 games -- and ranked the third leading home-run hitter in Florida, before the remainder of the schedule was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. She owns 24 home runs in her career. Rodriguez plays travel ball with the prestigious Gold Coast Hurricanes organization.
The Wolverines' incoming freshman class now stands at four players. Catcher/infielder Ryleigh Carricaburu, outfielder/infielder Sierra Kersten and catcher/infielder Keke Tholl all previously signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period in November.
