
Reigning National Champs Unveil 2022 Women's Gymnastics Schedule

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The reigning national champion University of Michigan women's gymnastics team announced Monday (Oct. 18) its 2022 schedule that features five regular-season home meets at Crisler Center.
The Wolverines will be featured on television a total of four times during the regular season with two home meets on ESPN/2/U and two road meets on the Big Ten Network.
The 2022 season opener will take place Thursday, Jan. 6 when it hosts Georgia for a 7 p.m. meet in Crisler Center. The meet will mark the 52nd meeting between the two squads and the first since the 2018 campaign.
The Wolverines will then host Arizona State Saturday, Jan. 15 at Crisler Center before going on the road for the first time in the 2021 season to open Big Ten Conference action.Â
U-M will hit the road for its first Big Ten Conference meet of the season Monday, Jan. 24 at Minnesota. The meet against the Golden Gophers is set to start at 8 p.m. CT and will be featured on the Big Ten Network.
Michigan then returns home to host Michigan State on Sunday (Jan. 30) with the meet to be featured on ESPN/2/U. The meet will also be National Women and Girls in Sports Day at Crisler Center where kids will have the opportunity to interact with other female teams at Michigan prior to the meet with the Spartans.
The Wolverines will open the month of February on the road when they travel to Rutgers (Feb. 4) for meet with the Scarlet Knights. Following the road meet, U-M will play host to Penn State (Feb. 13) at 6 p.m., which will serve as the Wolverines' second home meet live on ESPN/2/U.
Wolverine fans will also have the opportunity to watch Michigan in nearby Toledo, Ohio on Friday. Feb. 18 at the Big Five Meet and Elevate the Stage event. The meet will be held on podium with a regular season Big Ten title up for grabs. U-M will compete at 7 p.m. against Iowa, Ohio State, Maryland, and Illinois.
Michigan will remain on the road for its next two meets as it travels to Nebraska (Feb. 26) and then makes the trip to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the University of Oklahoma (March 4). The Wolverines and Cornhuskers will compete at 3:30 p.m. CT with fans being able to catch all the action live on the Big Ten Network. The meeting with the Sooners will mark the 25th between the two squads, with the last meeting coming in the 2021 national championship.
The Wolverines are set to close out the 2022 regular season on March 12 when it hosts Auburn and West Virginia for a tri-meet that will honor the Michigan senior class following the conclusion of the event. Meet time is slated for 4 p.m.
Michigan will compete for its 26th Big Ten Championship title Saturday, March 19 hosted by Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for March 31 and April 2, and the NCAA Championship will take place in Fort Worth, Texas April 14-16.
The first look of the 2022 team will be an exhibition meet at Crisler Center with Central Michigan scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m.
After recording a program-best score of 198.250 and claiming its first-ever national title, the Michigan women's gymnastics team returns all but one routine from its 2021 lineup, including all five of its WCGA All-Americans that earned a total of 14 All-America citations a year ago. The Wolverines broke the 198.000 barrier four times in the 2021 season, while also breaking the uneven bars and balance beam records in the 2021 campaign. Reigning WCGA Coach of the Year Bev Plocki also adds three newcomers to her lineup for the 2022 season.

Season tickets are on sale now starting at $25. Season ticket renewals will be available starting Wednesday, Oct. 20 and will end Friday, Nov. 5.
