Doubles Run for Fenty, Ehrenschneider Ends at ITA Fall Nationals

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis doubles team of Andrew Fenty and Nino Ehrenschneider advanced to the second round at the ITA National Fall Championships, but fell short of getting to the quarterfinals to end their fall season on Friday (Nov. 5).
Fenty and Ehrenschneider, who qualified for the tournament after winning the doubles title at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Oct. 25, opened play with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Tomas Rodriguez and Peyton Gatti of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Thursday afternoon (Nov. 4).
They jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first match, then won three of the next four sets to hold a 5-1 edge. A tremendous rally saw Fenty with the finish and the Wolverines closed with a 6-2 win.

In the second set, the Michigan duo grabbed a 3-2 edge then won the next two points for a 5-2 advantage. The Chattanooga pair rallied to take two matches, but Fenty and Ehrenschneider finished them off the 6-4 victory.

The Wolverines advanced to take on Central Florida's Trey Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel in the second round. After falling 7-5 in the first set and 7-6 (3) in the second, Fenty and Ehrenschenider suffered their first doubles loss of the season and finished the fall with an 8-1 record.
With the Michigan duo's fall season finished, the rest of the Wolverines will continue action on Saturday (Nov. 6) at the Big Ten Singles and Doubles Championships in East Lansing, Mich.
