MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team posted NCAA top-four times and NCAA 'A' cuts on both relays to open the Minnesota Invitational on Wednesday (Dec. 1) at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
The Wolverines began the night with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay from sophomore Wyatt Davis, senior Will Chan, freshman Gal Groumi and junior Cam Peel (1:23.47), who anchored the race in 18.82. The Wolverines sit behind just Texas, Alabama, and NC State in this event this season.
Later, the foursome of senior Patrick Callan, sophomore Jake Mitchell, Davis and Groumi finished second in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:11.02). It is the third-fastest time in the NCAA this season, trailing Texas (from Wednesday) and Arizona State.
The Minnesota Invite continues Thursday (Dec. 2) with a full slate of events. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. CST with finals following at 6 p.m.
