ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team earned a series split with Maryland on Saturday night (Feb. 20) with a five-set win (25-17, 27-29, 25-20, 25-23, 15-10) at Cliff Keen Arena.
Michigan (2-3, 2-3 Big Ten) was paced by 17 kills from junior Paige Jones, who hit .245 on the night. Sophomore Jess Robinson also stood out with a 15-kill effort. She also posted a .545 hit percentage and added four blocks. Redshirt freshman Hannah Grant had 19 digs to go with 10 assists.
U-M took the first set, 25-17, behind four kills from Jones. The second set featured eight ties and four lead changes with Maryland (1-9, 1-9 Big Ten) coming out victorious, 29-27, behind seven kills from Erika Pritchard.
Michigan took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-20 third set score aided by a pair of service aces from freshman Scottee Johnson. However, Maryland evened the score at 2 with a 25-23 fourth set win.
In the decisive fifth-set, U-M used a trio of kills from Jones, freshman Jess Mruzik and Robinson to prevail, 15-10, to capture the set and the match.

U-M will travel to No. 5 Minnesota for a weekend series against the Gophers. The first match is scheduled Friday (Feb. 26) at 4 p.m. CST, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
