Wolverine Notes
• Junior Leigha Brown tallied a career-best six steals at Iowa (Feb. 25), the first time a Wolverine had at least five swipes in a game since Akienreh Johnson had five against Northwestern in last year's Big Ten Tournament (March 6, 2020). Brown will face off against her former teammate, Kayla Mershon, when the Wolverines face Minnesota. The pair played their first two seasons of collegiate basketball together at Nebraska.
• Michigan had four double-figure scorers in its 75-66 win over Ohio State (Feb. 21), the first time U-M had four in double figures since a 92-49 win over Wisconsin (Dec. 31). U-M is now 7-0 when at least four players reach double figures, with five players doing it in the season-opening win over Central Michigan (Nov. 25).
• Senior Hailey Brown has been heating up from behind the arc the last three games, hitting five triples on 62.5 percent shooting. She hit 3-for-4 from long range against Iowa (Feb. 25), her first game with three triples since making three at Notre Dame (Dec. 3). For her career, she has made 130 three-pointers on 36.4 percent shooting from downtown. Her 130 three-pointers rank 11th all-time at U-M.
• Minnesota (8-11, 7-10 B1G) snapped a two-game losing streak last time out, getting a 73-63 win over Nebraska on Wednesday (Feb. 24). The Gophers are averaging 69.4 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting, while allowing 79.4 points per game on 46.5 percent shooting. Minnesota features four double-figure scorers in Sara Scalia (14.7 ppg), Jasmine Powell (14.5 ppg), Kadi Sissoko (12.7 ppg) and Gadiva Hubbard (11.0 ppg). U-M has won two straight and five of the last six against the Gophers.
Last Time Against Minnesota
• The Wolverines got 20-point games from Amy Dilk and Naz Hillmon and never trailed in a 77-52 win over Minnesota Monday night (Feb. 10) at Williams Arena.
The win marked Michigan's third straight, as the Wolverines led by as many as 25 points. Dilk went for 22 points, eight assists and four rebounds, with Hillmon posting 21 points, eight boards and five assists. Akienreh Johnson added 12 points, five boards and three assists as seven Wolverines found the scoring column.
Michigan dished out a season-high 25 assists -- its first time topping the 20-assist mark since going for 22 against Kansas State in the 2019 NCAA Tournament (March 22, 2019) -- and held a 37-32 advantage on the glass.
