Sarah Stratigakis (March 24)
Senior CLASS Award Top 30 -- Senior Sarah Stratigakis has been named one of 30 candidates for the 2020-21 women's soccer Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Stratigakis is the reigning Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and was named a United Soccer Coaches second team All-American as a sophomore. » Senior CLASS Award Release
Sammi Woods (March 22)
Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week: Sammi Woods was named the Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week along with Iowa's Macy Enneking after her outings against Maryland (March 18) and Penn State (March 21). Woods notched a career-high five points against the Terrapins, scoring two goals and adding an assist in U-M's 4-0 victory. The freshman forward took a total of six shots in the two games with four on goal.
Meredith Haakenson (March 16)
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week -- Junior Meredith Haakenson earned her first Big Ten honor as she was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after her outing in Michigan's 7-3 win over Michigan State on Friday (March 12). Haakenson scored a pair of goals in the second half, including the game-winner against the Spartans. The junior also added an assist for a career-high five-point match.
Hillary Beall (Feb. 23)
Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week -- Senior Hillary Beall received her second career Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week honor after make a career-best 15 saves in a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Ohio State in the season opener on Feb. 20. The Wolverines went a player down in the second half and Beall made seven of her 15 saves during that span. The senior keeper also made two saves in the overtime periods. » Big Ten Release
Alia Martin and Sarah Stratigakis (Jan. 28)
MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List -- Seniors Alia Martin and Sarah Stratigakis have been named to the watch list for the 2020-21 MAC Hermann Trophy, a 10-pound crystal soccer ball awarded annually since 1967 to honor the United Soccer Coaches National Players of the Year in NCAA Division I men's and women's soccer. Martin has found her spot in multiple places on the field but will enter her second season as a starter in the backfield. The Carmel, Ind., native anchored a backline a season ago that posted six shutouts and conceded just 25 goals. Stratigakis has been a leader on the offensive side of the ball since she stepped on campus, scoring seven goals and adding a team-best 12 assists last season. Martin and Stratigakis were part of a group that led Michigan to its best season in recent history (17-6-1), a Big Ten Conference Tournament Championship title game and an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance. » United Soccer Coaches Release
