The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (2-5, 2-5 Big Ten), coming off its second win of the season, will host No. 2-ranked Maryland (7-0, 7-0 Big Ten) on Saturday (April 10) at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. Opening faceoff is slated for 1 p.m., and will be streamed live on Big Ten Network+.
Wolverine Bites
• Junior goalie John Kiracofe was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week on Tuesday (April 6) for the second time this season. He earned the honor after making 16 saves against 10 goals allowed (62 percent) in U-M's win over Johns Hopkins (April 1).
• Kiracofe has excelled of late, making double-digit stops in each of the last four contests. He had a career-high 17 stops against Penn State (March 20). Over the last four contests, he is stopping 48 percent of shots faced (46-for-95).
• Sophomore Josh Zawada, coming off a hat-trick against Johns Hopkins on Sunday (April 4), leads the team in goals with 15 and in points with 20. Freshman Michael Boehm paces the squad in helpers with nine and ranks second on the team in points with 19, while junior Bryce Clay boasts 13 goals to rank second on the team. The formidable attack unit has accounted for more than half (52 percent) of U-M's 103 total points.
• Junior faceoff specialist Nick Rowlett ranks second in the conference and No. 26 nationally with a win percentage of 56 (101-for-180). He leads the Big Ten in ground balls per game (8.00/game) with a total of 56. He ranks No. 9 nationally in Lacrosse References' FOGO rankings with a total expected goal added of 30.02.
• With three points against Johns Hopkins on April 4, graduate student Avery Myers ran his career total to 64 points (40 goals, 24 assists), He passed Mikie Schlosser (2014-17), and trails former teammate Rocco Sutherland by two points for seventh all-time in program history.
• With three Big Ten regular-season games left to play, U-M boasts a record of 2-5 in the league and is tied with both Penn State and Johns Hopkins (2-5) for fourth place. Maryland leads the league at 7-0, followed by Rutgers (5-2) and Ohio State (3-4).

The Wolverines and Terrapins met in the first contest of the year on Feb. 20 in College Park, Md., with Maryland walking away with a 20-9 win. Josh Zawada led U-M with five points, while Nick Rowlett went 15-for-28 at the dot. Michigan outscored the Terps 6-5 in the fourth quarter, going on a four-goal run.
Maryland leads the country in shooting percentage (.400), and ranks second nationally in assists per game (10.43), points-per-game (27.00) and total offense (16.57 goals/game). Defensively, the Terps lead the conference and rank No. 13 nationally in total defense, surrendering 9.29 goals/game.
The Terps are led by one of the top players in the country in Jared Bernhardt, who recently broke the Maryland career record for goals. He leads the league and ranks fifth nationally in goals per game (4.00) and points per game (6.14). Logan Wisnauskas leads the league in assists (2.43), and Daniel Maltz (.649) leads in shooting percentage.
Defensively, Nick Grill leads the conference in caused turnovers/game at 1.43, while goalie Logan McNaneny is tops with a save percentage of 54.
Mary;and leads the league with a 7-0 overall and conference record, and are ranked as the No. 2 team in the country in both the Inside Lacrosse media poll and the USILA Coaches Poll.
