
US Olympic Diving Trials Underway for Cutshaw, Hixon

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's and men's swimming and diving programs have a member each participating in the U.S. Olympic Trials this week, as Christy Cutshaw and graduate assistant coach Michael Hixon are competing for a spot in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. The diving trials began Sunday (June 6) and run through Sunday, June 13.
Cutshaw kicks off her week of competition Wednesday (June 9) with the 10-meter platform preliminary beginning at 1:30 p.m. Should the Durham, N.C., native qualify, she will compete in the semifinal at 9 p.m. Wednesday night, with the finals scheduled for June 13 at 8:50 p.m.
Hixon has advanced to the men's synchronized three-meter springboard final to be held Friday (June 11) at 7 p.m. Hixon, who won a 2016 Olympic Silver medal in the event, along with partner Andrew Capobianco, have a two-round score of 848.10 and hold a 64-point lead going into the final.
Wednesday's 10-meter platform opening round is available to watch online, while the semifinal and three-meter springboard final will be broadcast on the Olympic Channel and Peacock app. Sunday's 10-meter platform final will be televised on NBC.
