Hunter Thomson (April 14)
Big Ten Golfer of the Week -- Freshman Hunter Thomson was named the Big Ten's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career. It marked the first time a Wolverine freshman has earned the honor since Charlie Pilon (Oct. 23, 2019). Thomson used a fifth sub-par 54-hole total (211, -5) to lead U-M and finish seventh at the Mossy Oak Collegiate -- his third top 10 finish of his rookie campaign. After four first round birdies, he posted a team-best ninth sub-par tally (70, -2) and after darkness suspended the second round, he closed with another four birdies to card a 73 (+1). In the final round, Thomson posted three straight rounds with four birdies, while adding an eagle on the par-5 17th hole, to close with a 68 (-4) -- his team-leading 10th sub-par round and third sub-70.  » Big Ten Release
Will Anderson (Sept. 29)
Big Ten Golfer of the Week -- After winning his first collegiate event, Will Anderson was named the Big Ten's Golfer of the Week. Carding a career-low 204 (-6), Anderson led from start to finish to win Yale's Macdonald Cup. Capitalizing on six birdies in the first round, he fired a career-low 66 (-4) and followed it with a 68 (-2) to hold a two-shot lead (134) over teammates Jude Kim (136) and Hunter Thomson (137). Closing with an even-par 70, Anderson won by three shots over runner-up Thomson. Lowering his career-best 54-hole total by 12 shots, Anderson was the first Wolverine to win an event since teammate Charlie Pilon won the 2019 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. Anderson led the 77-player field with 12 birdies and par-3 scoring (2.83). With his performance, U-M finished the runner-up at the Macdonald Cup. » Big Ten Release
