ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (12-2, 3-1 Big Ten) returns to Crisler Center for the first time in 2022, hosting Rutgers (7-9, 0-4 Big Ten) on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 9) at noon. The game will be broadcast live on FS1, Michigan's first-ever appearance on the network.
Wolverine Notes
• Senior guard Amy Dilk was back in action for the first time since the season opener the last time out (Jan. 4), playing nearly 16 minutes at Nebraska. Dilk injured her knee in the opening minute of the season against IUPUI (Nov. 9). In her return to the court, Dilk scored three points with one rebound and one block.
• Michigan is looking to bounce back after just its second loss of the season. U-M embarked on a five-game winning streak after its first loss (Dec. 2 at Louisville) and was 4-1 following a loss last season.
• Michigan and Rutgers are playing for the first time since playing a home-and-home series during the 2019-20 season, with each team winning at home. U-M took a 71-57 win at Crisler on Jan. 26, 2020, before Rutgers answered with a 62-41 win in Piscataway, N.J., on Feb. 16, 2020. The lone scheduled contest between the teams was not played last season. Michigan will face two straight teams it did not play during the 2020-21 season in the Scarlet Knights and Penn State (Jan. 13).
• Michigan is back home at Crisler Center for the first time in 2022, hosting Rutgers before hitting the road again for two straight contests. U-M is 7-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents by more than 20 points per game (78.1 ppg to 58.0 ppg). U-M has three players in double-figure scoring at home in Naz Hillmon (23.6 ppg, up from her season average of 20.1 ppg), Leigha Brown (14.6 ppg on 61.0 percent shooting) and Emily Kiser (11.7 ppg, up from her season average of 10.7 ppg).
• Rutgers (7-9, 0-4 Big Ten) has dropped two straight, falling at the buzzer to Purdue (Jan. 2) and by 13 to Minnesota (Jan. 6). Rutgers is averaging 56.8 points per game on 39.6 percent shooting, while allowing 55.7 points per game on 37.9 percent shooting. The Scarlet Knights are led by Shug Dickson's 9.1 points per game and Osh Brown's 8.5 points per game. RU and U-M have not played each other since the 2019-20 season.
• The Wolverines have won three straight over Rutgers at Crisler Center. The last time the teams played in Ann Arbor, U-M came away with a 71-57 win on Jan. 26, 2020. Michigan got double-doubles from Naz Hillmon (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Akienreh Johnson (24 points, 11 rebounds) in the win, with Danielle Rauch making her first career start.
