
Michigan Dominates Saint Francis on Banner Raising Night

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team had three double-digit scorers and every Wolverine that saw the floor scored as they raced past Saint Francis 91-36 on Friday evening (Nov. 11) at Crisler Center.
Prior to the contest against the Red Flash, U-M raised its 2022 Elite Eight banner to the rafters at Crisler Center with Amy Dilk, Naz Hillmon and Danielle Rauch in attendance.
Emily Kiser led Michigan (2-0) with a career-high 25 points going 11-for-14 from the floor and Laila Phelia scored 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting with three three-pointers. Cameron Williams rounded out the trio of double-digit scorers with 12 points on the evening and led Michigan with eight rebounds, six of which were offensive. All 12Â Wolverines who saw the floor scored a point.
Defensively, U-M forced Saint Francis (0-2) into 36 turnovers, tying a Crisler Center record. Michigan recorded 19 steals and scored 46 points off the Red Flash's turnovers. Kiser had a team-high four steals, while Maddie Nolan and Ari Wiggins had three each.
Michigan opened the game on a 9-0 run that included a triple from Nolan and a fast-break layup off the steal from Phelia forcing SFU to burn a timeout early in the first quarter. The Wolverines came out of the timeout and knocked down the three-pointer from Greta Kampschroeder to close out a 12-0 run.
Kiser netted seven straight with an and-one play and Leigha Brown closed out the first quarter with a swipe and finish to allow Michigan to take a 21-7 lead into the second 10 minutes of action.
The Wolverines continued to push the pace of the game, putting together an 18-1 run that included eight points from Phelia before ending the half with a last-second layup from Elise Stuck.
The Michigan defense forced 20 Saint Francis turnovers in the first half. Kiser led the Wolverines on the offensive side of the ball with 13 points, going 6-for-8 from the field, while Phelia had 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting and two three-pointers. Williams paced U-M on the boards with five rebounds and Brown added four.
Michigan forced seven turnovers in the third quarter, scoring eight points off them, while scoring 18 points in the paint to take a comfortable 72-27 advantage into the final 10 minutes at Crisler.
The Wolverines outscored the Red Flash 19-9 in the fourth quarter to earn a lopsided victory.
Michigan will be back in action Wednesday (Nov. 16) when it hosts Western Michigan at 7 p.m. at Crisler Center. The game will be streamed live on B1G+.
