ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan wrestling alumni Mike Amine (1986-89) has been named the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Ufer Award, presented annually by the Letterwinners M Club. Amine will be honored at the organization's fall tailgate on Saturday, Nov. 12 inside the Hall of Honor at Crisler Center.
Since 1981, the Ufer Award has been presented annually to a Letterwinners M Club member in recognition of their outstanding service to the University of Michigan and the Letterwinners M Club. Amine is the fifth wrestling representative to earn the prestigious honor; he joins Cliff Keen (1985), Chip Warrick (2007), Mark Churella (2012) and Jim Keen (2014).
An NCAA finalist, three-time NCAA qualifier at 167 pounds and two-year team captain while Michigan, Amine transitioned to the financial services industry after college -- and currently manages Wealth Strategies Financial Group -- while continuing to coach, mentor and hire wrestlers within the community.
He served on the Letterwinners M Club board from 2000-10 -- as president in 2010 -- and is one of the patriarchs of Michigan wrestling's expansive Amine family, which also includes his brother Sam (1988-90), sons Malik (2016-19) and Myles (2017-19, '21-22) and nephews Jordan (2015-18) and Cameron (2021-present).
