FRISCO, Texas -- Juniors Paul Juda, David Willett, and Crew Bold of the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team took part in the USA Gymnastics sanctioned Winter Cup Challenge at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on Sunday, Feb. 27.
The trio was slated to compete in day one of competition on Friday (Feb. 25), but travel issues kept the group from competing for the all-around title on day one and the individual titles on day two. The all-around title consisted of a one-day score, while the individual titles were decided by the composite score on each event over two days of competition.
Juda scored the top all-around score on day two of competition, marking a score of 83.850. His top event score of 14.800 came on vault, and he added a 14.200 on high bar. Had he been present on the first day of competition when the all-around title was decided, his all-around score would have put him in second place behind Oklahoma's Vitaliy Guimaraes.
Willett also took part in the all-around, scoring a 75.850. He broke the 13-plateau on floor exercise (13.050), and also compiled a 12.800 on still rings. Bold took part on three events, highlighted by vault (13.600) and parallel bars (13.316),
The entire Wolverine squad returns to action on Saturday (March 5), traveling to West Point, N.Y. for a tri-meet vs. Army and William & Mary. The meet will be held at Army's Gross Center and commence at noon.
