Michigan to Host No. 24 Iowa in Home Finale, Senior Day on Thursday Night

The University of Michigan men's basketball team will play its home finale on Thursday, March 3, hosting No. 24 Iowa at Crisler Center at 9 p.m.. The evening will also feature a pregame ceremony in honor of "Senior Day," and will be broadcast on FS1 with Kevin Kugler (play-by-play) and Donny Marshall (analyst) on the call.
The Scene Setter
• Michigan will celebrate its outgoing graduate students and seniors, Eli Brooks, DeVante' Jones, Jaron Faulds, Brandon Johns Jr. and Adrien Nunez as well as head managers, Bennett VanSolkema and Jalen Massey, in a pregame ceremony.
• U-M closes a four-game home stand against No. 24 Iowa.
• Hunter Dickinson leads U-M in scoring (18.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg). In his last game, a thrilling victory over Michigan State (March 1), he had a career-best 33 points which marked his first 30-plus point game.
• Over his last three games, Caleb Houstan has averaged 19.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 59.3 percent from the field (16-for-27), 64.3 percent from long range (9-for-14) and has gone 17-for-18 from the free throw line. He had back-to-back games of a career-best 21 points -- Rutgers & Illinois.
The Big Ten's Elders
• The Michigan/Iowa match-up features two of the longest tenured Big Ten players -- U-M's Eli Brooks and Iowa's Jordan Bohannon. Both returned for the extra year following the COVID-19 pandemic as Brooks is in his fifth season, while Bohannon is in his sixth after a medical redshirt (2019-20).
• In his 153 games, Brooks has compiled 1,056 points, 373 rebounds, 293 assists and 159 three-pointers. In his 172 career games, Bohannon has compiled 1,956 points, 386 rebounds, 691 assists and 435 three-pointers -- both Iowa records.
• Brooks (121) and Bohannon (120) lead all Big Ten players in career victories.
The No. 24 Iowa Hawkeyes
• With the only loss over its last eight games coming at the hands of the Wolverines (Feb. 17), Iowa has been red-hot, winning four straight including its home finale against Northwestern, 82-61, on Monday night (Feb. 28).
• Iowa has the fifth rated offense according to KenPom and the 79th ranked defense. The Hawkeyes average 83.7 points per game, which is fifth in the nation, surpassing 85+ points (14x), 90+ (8x) and 100 (3x).
• Iowa has the nation's best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.79) as the Hawkeyes rank 28th with 16.0 assists per game while committing 8.9 turnovers (2nd nationally).
• Iowa is led by Keegan Murray, who ranks fourth nationally with 23.3 points per game. He has 27 double figure games with 20 of 20-plus and four of 30-plus, including a season-high 37 against Nebraska (Feb. 13). He adds team-bests for rebounding (8.6 rpg), blocks (56 total, 2.0 bpg), steals (37 total, 1.3 spg), free throw attempts (157) and field goal percentage (56.1 percent). He is also second on the team with 46 three-pointers. Murray's 247 field goals are second in the nation; notably, his 247 makes are more than any other Hawkeye has attempted.
• Jordan Bohannon, who averages 11.0 points per game, leads Iowa with 71 three-pointers as 80 percent of his offensive attempts come from long range. In mid-February at Maryland (Feb. 10), he set an Iowa program and Xfinity Center (Maryland) record with 10 triples.
Earlier This Season at Iowa
• With a career-best 28 points from Moussa Diabate and five Wolverines in double figures, Michigan defeated Iowa 84-79 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena (Feb. 17).
• After the Wolverines built a 12-point second-half lead, Iowa chipped away over the final five minutes of regulation to draw within three. However, U-M made free throws down the stretch to hang on for the road win.
• Diabate's 28 points tied U-M's top individual game tally and was his first 20-plus point game. He was 12-for-15 from the field, adding eight rebounds, a block and a steal.
• DeVante' Jones recorded a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) and added five assists and four steals, while Hunter Dickinson had 14 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and a career-best seven assists. Eli Brooks had 13 points, five assists and four rebounds and Kobe Bufkin had 10 points off the bench after Terrance Williams II missed the game with a left ankle sprain.
