
MacNeil Named Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Year for Third Year in a Row

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior Maggie MacNeil of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team was named Big Ten Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year on Tuesday (March 29).
MacNeil earned the award for the third year in a row after her standout performances at the Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Championships. MacNeil is only the second woman to earn Big Ten Swimmer of the Year three years in a row after Lilly King (Indiana University) did so from 2016 to 2018.
At the Big Ten Championships, MacNeil picked up three individual titles in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. She also was a part of the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that raced to two championships titles. She picked up season-best times in the 50 free, 100 free, 50 back, 50 fly and 100 fly.
At the NCAA Championships, MacNeil picked up two bronze medals, finishing third in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. She also placed 10th in the 100 freestyle. MacNeil was a part of the 400 free relay team that finished fourth, the 400 medley relay team that took fifth, the 200 medley relay team that placed sixth, and the 200 free relay team that finished seventh, giving her a total of six All-America honors and one All-America honorable mention this year.
