ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team (28-2) will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, Thursday (April 14) for the NCAA Semifinals at 5 p.m. CDT at Dickies Arena. The meet is set to air on ESPN2 with Bart Conner and Kathy Johnson Clarke on the call.
The Wolverines will compete against No. 2 Florida, No. 6 Auburn and No. 8 Missouri in the second semifinal session. Should U-M finish in the top two of its session, it will advance to the NCAA Finals set for Saturday (April 16) at noon CDT.
Rotation Order
• Michigan will start on the floor in the NCAA Semifinal before moving to vault. U-M will be on the uneven bars in the third rotation and finish the event on the beam.
Wolverine Bites
• Michigan will make its 26th NCAA appearance and 25th under head coach Bev Plocki.
• U-M won the program's first-ever NCAA championship in the 2021 season and lost just two routines that competed in that title meet one year ago. Michigan brings back all of its routines from 2021 except for Lauren Farley, who graduated, on the beam, and Carly Bauman, who competed on bars, beam and floor, and is out in the 2022 season due to injury.
• Prior to 2021, Michigan finished as high as second at the NCAA Championships in the 1999 campaign.
• There have been five individual national champions, winning an individual event title nine times in program history with the last coming in 2019 when then-freshman Natalie Wojcik won the beam title with a .9.950. Prior to Wojcik, Joanna Sampson won the floor title in 2013, Beth Wymer and Elise Ray each won three NCAA titles, and Kylee Botterman won the all-around in 2011.
• U-M has 56 individuals who have combined for 198 All-America honors. Michigan's five all-arounders all earned All-America accolades in the 2021 season.
• U-M has earned a program-best vault (49.875) and floor (49.750) this season, along with a program-best 198.525, which ranks seventh all-time in NCAA history.
• Michigan has earned wins this season over both Auburn and Missouri, while it will go up against Florida for the first time since the NCAA Finals in 2021.
