
Seven Wolverines Awarded CRCA Scholar-Athlete Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Following the 2022 regular season and Big Ten Championships, the No. 8-ranked University of Michigan rowing program saw seven of its student-athletes honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) as Scholar-Athletes on Monday (May 23).
U-M's seven scholar-athletes include: Kate Burns (industrial and operations engineering), Annaka Draaisma (movement science, Aubrey Fitts (business administration), Ariana Shokoohi (biology, health & society), Cecilia Spesia (PHD, pharmaceutical sciences) Noa Sreden (economics, international studies, Middle East studies), and Kathryn Ward (biopsychology, cognition and neuroscience).
To earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete distinction, a student must be in her second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, have a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher, and compete in an NCAA/IRA championship boat (1V4, 2V8, 1V8) for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring season. An athlete may also meet that final criteria point by being in an NCAA/IRA Championship boat for the conference championship weekend.
Draaisma, Shokoohi, and Sreden are now two-time winners of this distinction. Burns has won this honor three times.
