
Wolverines Take Down Wildcats, Fall to Badgers at Wisconsin Tri-Meet

MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team closed out Saturday's (Oct. 21) second and final day at the Wisconsin Tri-Meet with a split against UW and Arizona at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center. The Wolverines picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Wildcats 228-119 but dropped its matchup with Wisconsin 216-137.
The Maize and Blue picked up an individual win and eight podium finishes across eight events on Saturday.
In the freestyle events, Lindsay Flynn collected her first win of the weekend by logging a time of 49.47 in the 100-yard freestyle. Katie Crom grabbed third in the 500-yard race with a mark of 4:52.08.
U-M secured two podium finishes in the 100-yard backstroke as Casey Chung and Lexi Greenhawt logged times of 54.03 and 54.17, respectively.
Freshman Hannah Bellard grabbed second in the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 2:00.25.
In the relays, two Michigan teams posted top-three times in the 200-yard medley relay. Greenhawt, Natalie Kan, Anna Boemer and Flynn finished second with a mark of 1:40.04, and the quartet of Chung, Claire Newman, Brady Kendall and Ella Jo Piersma logged a time of 1:41.56.
The Wolverines will be back in action from Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 16-18, when they compete in the Georgia Invitational in Athens, Ga.
