
Balduccini Picks Up Individual Win on Day Two of Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. -- The No. 20-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team held its ground and remained in the third plaec with 447 points after the second day of the Georgia Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium on Friday (Nov. 17).
A total of 17 Wolverines qualified for individual finals in the morning session, led by Stephanie Balduccini, who posted the top time in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:43.96.
The Wolverines led off Friday's finals with a solid effort in the 200-yard medley relay as Casey Chung, Natalie Kan, Brady Kendall and Lindsay Flynn combined to register a time of 1:36.65, meeting the NCAA "B" standard for qualification.
Hannah Bellard paced the Maize and Blue in the 400-yard IM, touching the wall at 4:10.29 to finish fifth in the A final. Kathryn Ackerman logged a "B" cut with a time of 4:11.87.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Anna Boemer and Kendall finished fourth and fifth in the A final and overall with times of 52.37 and 52.40, respectively.
Balduccini continued her strong weekend by logging the top time in the 200-yard freestyle with a "B" cut mark of 1:43.30. Katie Crom finished fourth with a time of 1:44.30 to meet the "B" standard.
Devon Kitchel led the team in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.45, finishing 15th overall. Chung had a strong showing in the 100-yard backstroke, taking second with a "B" cut time of 52.35.
U-M closed out the evening's swim events with a third-place showing in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of Bellard, Crom, Christey Liang and Balduccini posted a time of 7:02.23 to earn an NCAA "B" cut.
In diving, Kiarra Milligan finished third in the three-meter dive, racking up 334.75 points.
Michigan will wrap up the Georgia Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium tomorrow (Nov. 18). The preliminaries will get underway at 9:30 a.m. with the finals beginning at 5:30 p.m.
