It is Game Show Day, with a Price is Right-style competition happening during halftime.
Notes
• Michigan and EMU are meeting for the first time since U-M recorded a 57-38 win at the Convocation Center on Nov. 27, 2019. EMU is one of three Mid-American Conference schools that Michigan will face this season, joining Toledo and Miami (Ohio).
• For the first time since 2020, the Wolverines are spending the Thanksgiving holiday at home and hosting a game at Crisler Center. During the 2020-21 season, Michigan sandwiched the holiday with a home game against Central Michigan and a short trip to Oakland. Michigan has played at the Daytona Beach Invitational (2021) and the Gulf Coast Showcase (2022) over the Thanksgiving holiday the last two seasons.
• Michigan is receiving votes in both polls for the first time this season, receiving one point in the Associated Press poll and 29 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
• A year after ranking second in the Big Ten in scoring defense (63.4 ppg), Michigan is right back there to start this season. U-M is second in the league and 31st nationally on the defensive end, giving up just 52.2 points per game. Michigan has held three of its opponents under 60 points, its other two foes scoring 60 points (No. 23 Ole Miss) and 61 points (Purdue Fort Wayne).
• U-M leads the Big Ten in offensive rebounding (17.8 per game), turning those into 17.4 second-chance points per game. Taylor Williams leads the charge, grabbing 20 offensive rebounds through five games for a 4.0 offensive board per game average to also lead the Big Ten. Through three games, EMU is allowing 50.3 boards per game to its opponents.
• Cameron Williams recorded Michigan's first double-double of the season and the second of her career with 12 points and 12 rebounds against Oakland (Nov. 14). Her fellow Williams, Taylor Williams, is second in the Big Ten in career double-doubles, checking in with 28 after going for 19 points and 18 rebounds against South Dakota (Nov. 19). All of her other double-doubles came during her three years on the court at Western Michigan.
• Michigan has one double-figure scorer in Laila Phelia (17.8 ppg), with five more Wolverines averaging at least 5.5 points per game. Lauren Hansen (8.8 ppg), Jordan Hobbs (8.4 ppg), Taylor Williams (8.4 ppg), Cameron Williams (7.8 ppg) and Elissa Brett (5.5 ppg) are each scoring more than five points per game for the Wolverines. All 13 Wolverines have seen the floor this season and found the scoring column.
• Michigan has had six players record a double-figure scoring game thus far, with Phelia scoring at least 10 points in all five games. Hansen (three), Cameron Williams (two), Hobbs (two), Taylor Williams (one) and Chyra Evans (one) have each reached double figures in scoring this season. For Evans, it was the first double-figure scoring effort of her career after she went for 10 points against Middle Tennessee (Nov. 18).
