U-M to Trek to Princeton for First Round of NCAA Tournament

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (7-6-4) will travel to Princeton, N.J. to take on the seventh-seeded Princeton Tigers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (Nov. 10) at 7 p.m. from Roberts Stadium. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Notes
• U-M's NCAA Tournament berth is the 16th in program history. The Wolverines are 5-2 in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Jennifer Klein.
• Nine of U-M's 17 opponents earned NCAA Tournament berths. The Big Ten as a whole earned a conference record nine selections.
• The Wolverines have outscored opponents, 21-19, on the season -- highlighted by a 13-8 advantage in the second-half goal column despite a 129-115 shot deficit. U-M has also generated the vast majority of chances via corners of late, winning the category in two of the last five matches. Previously, the Wolverines had not won a corner majority in any match.
• Senior Sammi Woods leads the team in goals with eight, ranking her seventh in the conference. She owns 24 goals in her U-M career, making her the team's career active leader.
• Freshman Gabrielle Prych is tied for second in the Big Ten conference for goals by a freshman (five) and is tied for the team lead in assists with four.
• The Wolverines have registered double-digit shots in four of the last five matches, outpacing opponents 93-79 over the span. The opponent strength of schedule is No. 12.
• Michigan is 3-5-2 over its last 10 matches and 1-0-1 against teams ranked in the top 25 of the latest NCAA RPI.
• Junior Avery Peters leads the team for minutes played amongst field players (1,518) and has played the full match in 16-of-17 matches on the year. The Mason, Mich., native, played 78 minutes against Pepperdine (Aug. 19).
• Woods, junior Avery Kalitta, as well as freshman Prych, Lilley Bosley and senior Stephanie Sparkowski all earned All-Big Ten accolades. Woods and Kalitta earned spots on the third team, while Prych and Bosley made the freshman team. Sparkowski was U-M's sportsmanship honoree.
• Kalitta is No. 1 in the league in duels wonand defensive duels won. She is second in the conference in ball recoveries, passes completed and total smart passes.
• The Wolverines boast one New Jersey native on its roster in freshman Stella Tapia (Montclair).
• U-M has never faced the Tigers in program history.
