
Wolverines Collect 10 Personal-Best Times on First Day of First Chance Meet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team picked up three NCAA "B" cuts at the First Chance Meet on Saturday (Feb. 11) across two sessions inside Canham Natatorium.
Jared Daigle, Jack Callan and Ryan Hume kicked off the meet for the Wolverines with a sweep in the 500-yard freestyle. Daigle hit an NCAA "B" cut with a time of 4:22.28, while Callan and Hume each hit season- and personal-best times.
In the 200-yard IM, Matt Kroll touched first with a time of 1:51.37 en route to a new season- and personal-best time. Additionally, Lucas Hodgson, Yousuf Al-Matrooshi and Jack Wilkening swept the 50-yard freestyle, each earning new season and personal best times. Hodgson swam a 19.80, Al-Matrooshi finished in 20.36 and Wilkening posted a 20.39. Kevin Maas picked up the fourth-place finish with a new season-best time of 20.84.
Al-Matrooshi kicked off the evening portion of the day with a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 49.51. Hume had the biggest drop of the night with a six-second personal best time in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:51.55.
Wyatt Davis, Ozan Kalafat and Callan swept the 200-yard freestyle, all earning season-best times. Davis won the race with a time of personal-best time of 1:35.17 and earned an NCAA "B" cut with the effort. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kroll and Maas finished first and second with a time of 56.06 and 56.98, respectively.
Wilkening, Nikola Acin, and Hodgson swept the 100-yard backstroke, all staying under 49.50.
The First Chance Meet concludes Sunday (Feb. 12) at Canham Natatorium with two sessions. The first begins at 10 a.m., while the second session starts at 5:30 p.m.
