
Wilkening Earns NCAA B-Cut on Final Day of the First Chance Meet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team collected eight personal-best times, 15 season-best times and one NCAA B-cut time on the final day of the First Chance Meet on Sunday (Feb. 12) inside Canham Natatorium.
Jack Wilkening kicked off the day with a three-second drop in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:44.88, earning a new season- and personal-best time. Wilkening picked up a season- and personal-best time of 47.52, earning an NCAA B-cut.
Lucas Hodgson, Yousuf Al-Matrooshi and Kevin Maas swept the 100-yard freestyle, all earning new season- and personal-best times. Hodgson swam 44:07, Al-Matrooshi swam 44.46 and Maas swam 46.34.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Matt Kroll swam a season-best time of 2:01,58 to take the win. In the 1650-yard freestyle, Jack Callan and Ryan Hume each recorded season-best times swimming a 15:26.23 and 15:34.68.
The afternoon session included four personal-best times, six season-best times and one NCAA B-cut. On the 200-yard freestyle, Al-Matrooshi and Hodgson each picked up season- and personal-best times while Hume picked up a season- and personal-best time in the 200-yard IM. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kroll and Maas each recorded season-best times.
The Wolverines will return to the pool Wednesday (Feb. 15) at 5 p.m., when they play host to the Big Ten Championships at Canham Natatorium. [ Championships Central ]
