
Michigan Picks Up 200 Freestyle Relay Bronze on Day Three of Big Ten Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team earned a bronze medal in the 200-yard freestyle relay and sits in third place after day three of the Big Ten Championships on Friday (Feb. 17) at Canham Natatorium.
Kiarra Milligan and Lucy Hogan got things started for the Wolverines on the three-meter springboard in the B-final. Milligan finished second with a score of 329.90 and Hogan finished fifth with 286.55 points.
On the swimming side, Brady Kendall and Natalie Kan kicked off the night in the 100-yard butterfly with a sixth and seventh-place finish, respectively, in the A-final. Kendall swam 52.46 seconds to earn a new personal-best time and an NCAA B-cut, while Kan also picked up a B-cut. Noelle Kaufmann finished third in the B-final, earning a B-cut, and Lindsay Flynn finished fourth in the C-final with a time of 54.27.
The Wolverines picked up their largest point haul of the night in the 200-yard freestyle, with 87 points and four B-cuts. Katie Crom finished third (1:44.11) in the A-final with a new personal best and an NCAA B-cut. In the B-final Christey Liang swam her way to a first-place finish, Riley Francis finished fourth, Megan Glass fifth and Claire Newman eighth.
Letitia Sim was the lone Wolverine in the 100-yard breaststroke but picked up the third-place finish. Halfway through the race she was in fifth but powered by two athletes to pick up the third-place finish and a new personal best, with a time of 58.71.
In the 400-yard IM, Kathryn Ackerman swam her way to a seventh-place finish with an NCAA B-cut time of 4:11.55. Devon Kitchel swam a blistering 4:10.43 for a first-place finish in the B-final for a new personal-best time and an NCAA B-cut.
In the final individual event of the night, Kaufmann and Casey Chung finished second and sixth, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke, each earning NCAA B-cut times.
In the final event, the quartet of Flynn, Newman, Kan, and Kendal finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.91 to earn an NCAA A-cut.
The Wolverines will return to Canham Natatorium on Saturday (Feb. 18) at 10 a.m. to host the final day of the Big Ten Championships. The preliminaries and finales will be streamed live on B1G+.
