
Eight Wolverines Awarded CRCA Scholar-Athlete Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Following the 2023 regular season and Big Ten Championships, the No. 11-ranked University of Michigan rowing program saw eight of its student-athletes honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association as Scholar-Athletes on Friday (July 21).
U-M's eight scholar-athletes include: Erin Benitez (industrial and operations engineering), Lauren Boydston (computer science), Annaka Draaisma (movement science), Katie Easton (public health), Aubrey Fitts (business administration), Gracie Landefeld (industrial and operations engineering), Anna Muench (undeclared), and Ariana Shokoohi (biology, health & society).
To earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete distinction, a student must be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility, have a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher, and compete in an NCAA/IRA championship boat (1V4, 2V8, 1V8) for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring season. An athlete also may meet that final criteria point by being in an NCAA/IRA Championship boat for the conference championship weekend.
Draaisma and Shokoohi are now three-time winners of this distinction, with Fitts picking up her second honor.
