
Ehrenschneider, King Capture Pro Doubles Titles

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Rising senior Nino Ehrenschneider and alum Evan King '13 of the University of Michigan men's tennis program both earned doubles titles this weekend on the pro circuit.Â
Ehrenschenider won the M15 Curtea De Arges doubles championship with partner Quentin Folliot on Saturday (Aug. 12) in Curtea de Arges, Romania, as part of the International Tennis Federation Pro Circuit.
The duo defeated Vladimir Filip and Valentin Vanta 6-3, 6-3 in the final.
Ehrenschneider and his French partner advanced to the quarterfinals after a 7-6 (2), 1-6, 10-7 win over No. 4 seed Federico Valle and Lorenzo Vatteroni. Enrique Bogo and Filiberto Fumagali were next to fall in 6-4, 6-2 sets. In the semifinal, Ehrenschneider and Folliot turned in a 6-3, 6-0 performance over No. 1 seeded Bogdan Pavel and Dan Alexandru Tomescu.
Ehrenschneider, the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Doubles Champion, has been ranked as high as No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings. A qualifier for the 2022 NCAA Doubles Championship, he has a collegiate doubles record of 32-14 in duals and 43-20 overall.
King won his 14th ATP Challenger Tour doubles title, the Atlantic Tire Championships I, in Cary, N.C., on Sunday (Aug. 13).
The three-time All-American is ranked at No. 98, a career high. As the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Tire Championships, King and partner Reese Stalder took out wild card Fons Van Sambeek and Joe Wayan 6-7 (7), 7-5, 10-7 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, it was matching 6-4 ses that dispatched Rinky Hijikata and Mac Kiger. For the semifinal, the duo had to face Leando Riedi and Alexander Ritschard, a team that knocked off the No. 3 seed in the previous round. After splitting the first two matches, 6-2, 3-6, King and Stalder pulled away with a 10-6 tiebreak set.
Kinh and Stalder clinched the title on Sunday with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Mikelis Libietus and Adam Walton.
