
Michigan Men to Take on Loaded Field at Virginia Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After a three-week break, the University of Michigan men's cross country team returns to action and will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the Virginia Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 8:45 a.m. at Panorama Farms.
Notes
• The Michigan men will race at Panorama Farms, the site of this season's NCAA Championships.
• The Wolverines will battle against 12 ranked teams, including No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 3 BYU and No. 4 Stanford.
• Saturday's race will mark the first time Michigan has competed in the Virginia Invitational since 2012.
• Last time out at the Michigan Open, graduate student Tom Brady took first with a 5k time of 14:58.8, his first win at the event.
• Nick Foster finished just behind Brady at the Michigan Open with a mark of 14:59. Brady and Foster's times were the fastest in the history of the event, surpassing Craig Huffer's time of 15:01.4 set in 2019.
• In his Michigan cross country debut, Ian Hill posted a time of 15:13.9 and finished third on the team and sixth overall.
• Luke Venhuizen and Caleb Jarema will race for the Wolverines for the first time this season. While running unattached at the Michigan Open, Venhuizen and Jarema finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively.
• Freshman Heath McAllister is set to make his collegiate debut for the Maize and Blue after clocking a time of 15:31.1 at the Michigan Open competing unattached.
