ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will host the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, the second of three straight home meets to start the season, on Saturday (Jan. 20) at the U-M Indoor Track Building. Field events are slated to begin at the 10 a.m. with the track events set to start at 11 a.m.
Notes
• The Maize and Blue had a strong showing in the season-opening Wolverine Invitational last weekend, setting two meet records. Dubem Amene set the 200-meter dash meet record (21.18 seconds), winning the race and setting a personal best, while Trent MacFarland broke the 800-meter run record (1:51.77) in his Michigan debut.
• The Wolverines set four personal bests and saw 14 podium finishes, including the top-two finishes in the shot put and going 2-3-4 in the weight throw.
• Zane Forist led the Michigan throwers with a second-place finish in the shot put (17.29m/56 feet, 8.75 inches) and a third-place finish in the weight throw (18.80m/61 feet, 8.25 inches).
• Aiden Felty set a personal best to win the shot put with a mark of 17.72m (58 feet, 1.75 inches) while Jake Steslicki finished fourth in the weight throw with a personal best of 18.50m (60 feet, 8.25 inches).
• In the long jump, Tianhao Wei earned a third-place finish and set a personal best with a mark of 7.04m (23 feet, 1.2 inches).
