ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team topped No. 12 Army 412.500-382.950 on Saturday (Jan. 20) afternoon inside Cliff Keen Arena.
Michigan led the Black Knights from the get-go, winning all six team events and sweeping the individual podium in five-of-six rotations, with vault being the only exception. A total of nine different Wolverines placed in the top three on various events.
How it Happened
Floor Exercise
The Wolverines began the meet in traditional Olympic order and swept the first rotation. Sophomore Landen Blixt set the bar for the Wolverines, taking gold with a score of 14.300. Blixt was followed by junior David Wolma and graduate student Crew Bold, who took second and third with scores of 13.750 and 13.650, respectively. U-M totaled a mark of 67.700 to start the meet.
Pommel Horse
U-M hit four routines and again cleared the podium, with sophomore Fred Richard leading the contingent with a 15.000. Graduate student Paul Juda scored 13.900 on the apparatus, followed by sophomore Zach Granados with a 13.800. U-M scored a 67.300 on the apparatus for a running total of 151.200.
Still Rings
Senior Javier Alfonso notched a score of 14.500 to lead the pack. Juda took home silver on the apparatus, sticking his landing to earn a score of 14.450. Junior Rithik Puri rounded out the bunch, placing third and matching his career high of 13.600. The Wolverines ended the still rings rotation with a team score of 68.900, extending their lead to a full 16.100 points over Army with a total of 203.900.
Vault
Juda stuck his landing to match a career-best 15.000 on the apparatus, leading U-M as the Wolverines took home the top two spots on the apparatus. He was followed by Wolma, who also earned a stick bonus and walked away with 14.800. The Michigan team event total of 71.800 led to a running score of 275.700 after the fourth rotation concluded.

Parallel Bars
Junior Logan McKeown chipped in a 14.300 on the apparatus to take gold, setting a career best in the process. He was followed by Bold in second (14.100) and Alfonso in third (13.850). The Maize and Blue scored 69.500 for a running total of 345.200. With a running tally of 345.200, Michigan led Army by nearly 25 points as they entered the final rotation.
High Bar
Richard notched the top spot, scoring a 14.400 on the apparatus. Juda took third with a score of 13.200. The pair was split by Rithik Puri, whose score of 14.000 propelled him to second place and set a career record on high bar. All three top finishers stuck their landings as they propelled U-M to victory over Army with a team event score of 69.500.
