
U-M to Head to Ohio for Great Lakes Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team will head to Norton, Ohio, for the Great Lakes Regional on Friday (Nov.15) at noon at the Silver Creek Metro Park.
Notes
• The Great Lakes Regional will be run at a distance of 10 kilometers. The top two teams will advance automatically to the NCAA Championships, Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis. If Michigan is not one of those teams, it will learn of its fate during the NCAA selection show, scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 16) at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
• Michigan just missed out on an automatic bid to last year's NCAA Championships, finishing the regional race in third place, paced by Tom Brady and Nick Foster, who finished third and 16th, respectively. The Wolverines finished behind behind first-place Butler and second-place Wisconsin. U-M received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.
• Current Wolverines who competed at last season's regional race include Luke Venhuizen (24th place), Caleb Jarema (32nd), Nathan Lopez (37th), and Zach Stewart.
• The Wolverines remain just outside the top 30 in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, receiving 21 votes. The team moved back into the top five in the regional rankings, moving back to No. 5. Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Butler, and Michigan State claim the top-four spots.
• The Maize and Blue finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships on Nov. 1 with 158 points. Wisconsin claimed the team title as well as the individual title.
• Lopez was the team's lead runner, finishing 26th with a personal best time of 23:15.1.
• Rounding out the team's top-three finishers were Jarema and Jack Spamer, finishing 27th and 28th, respectively. Both posted a time of 23:18.5 for a new personal best.
• Jarema, Spamer, Lopez, Jozef Meyers, Kyler McNatt, Venhuizen, Peter Baracco, Trent McFarland, and Stewart are expected to be in the Michigan lineup.
