Gordon Set to Compete at NCAA Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior Penlopea Gordon of the University of Michigan women's cross country team will head to Madison, Wis., to represent the Wolverines at the NCAA Championships on Saturday (Nov. 23) at 9:20 a.m. CST on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course. The race will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
Notes
• Gordon punched her ticket to Madison as one of the top four finishers at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional who was not part of a qualifying team.
• U-M finished sixth at the Great Lakes Regional last weekend, with Gordon's 10th-place finish (19:49.0) leading the team.
• Gordon has had a breakout debut season for the Maize and Blue, finishing as lead runner and seeing personal-best performances in her last three races.
• The Rochester, Minn., native is the only Wolverine to break 20 minutes this season, doing so at the Big Ten Championships (19:53.4) and regionals.
• This will be Gordon's first appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, transferring to Michigan from St. Mary's (Cal.) in 2023.
