
Michigan Wins Three Events on Day Two of Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team won three individual events and a relay on the second day of the Georgia Tech Invitational (Nov. 23). Michigan leads the field with 928 points through two days in Atlanta.
Michigan opened the second evening session with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Jaeddan Gamilla, Tyler Ray, Bence Szabados, and Jack Wilkening logged a mark of 1:23.60.
Lorne Wigginton made a strong impression in the 400-yard IM, winning the event with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 3:41.87. Fellow freshman Jon Jøntvedt finished third with a time of 3:45.44.
The Wolverines shined in the 100-yard butterfly as Gal Groumi took the top spot with a time of 45.29 seconds, and Ray finished just behind in second with a time of 45.31.
Eitan Ben-Shitrit capped off the third win in three events with a triumph in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:33.21.
Wilkening finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 45.87 to close out the individual events for the Maize and Blue.
U-M concluded the session with a win in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The 'A' team of Ben-Shitrit, Colin Geer, Groumi, and Eduardo Moraes clocked a 6:16.37 to put a bow on a strong Saturday.
Michigan will close out the Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday (Nov. 24). Preliminaries start at 10 a.m., and finals begin at 5:30 p.m.
