Notes
• Michigan slipped one spot to No. 6 in the USCHO Poll despite putting up 16 goals on Penn State last week in State College, Pa., with 6-5 and 10-6 victories. The sweep is the third straight for the Wolverines, who extended their win streak to six straight and are now at 9-2-1 on the season.
• Michigan and Western Michigan have not faced off since October 2023, which resulted in a Wolverines sweep, winning both games by one goal --including the infamous Luke Hughes overtime game winner that preceded the bow to the Lawson Lunatics. Michigan is 76-35-10 in the all-time series against its former CCHA opponent.
• Michael Hage led the nation in scoring last week, with seven points to earn the Big Ten First Star of the Week. Hage tallied three goals and four assists. T.J. Hughes captured Second Star of the Week after leading the nation in goals with five, including a four-goal game on Saturday (Nov. 23) along with an assist.
• Michigan went 6-for-9 on the power play on Saturday night, tying the program record for power-play goals in a game. The Wolverines have done it twice before, against Lindenwood on Oct. 28, 2023 and Ferris State on Dec. 31, 1996. The Michigan power play is now at 28.9 percent on the season.
• Fourteen players had points in the Penn State sweep. Other standouts included defenseman and team captain Jacob Truscott with a six-point series (two goals, four assists), Evan Werner had five points (one goal, four assists), William Whitelaw had four (two goals, two assists).
• Logan Stein earned both wins in net, playing the full 60 minutes on Friday (Nov. 22) before coming on in relief of Cameron Korpi and earning the save as Michigan battled back from a 4-1 deficit to win 10-6. Stein is now 6-1 on the season with a .914 save percentage and a 2.22 goals-against average.
• Hage sits atop the U-M scoring column with 16 points in 11 games, scoring eight goals and eight assists. Werner follows with 13 points in 12 games, while Hughes is averaging a point per game with 12 in 12 games. Garrett Schifsky is also in double digits with 11 points in his 12 games.
• After his six-point weekend, Hughes is now just four points away from reaching the 100-point plateau. He would be the first member of Michigan's Century Club since Jake Slaker in 2017. Slaker finished his career with 104 points. Brendan Morrison is Michigan's all-time leading scorer with 284 points.
• Michigan Made, a five-part docuseries, follows the Michigan Hockey team during the 2024-25 season. Sponsored by the University of Michigan Credit Union, Episode 1 premiered on Nov. 13.
