
Michigan to Host No. 20 Georgia for Flip for Chip Meet

• Flip for Chip Spirit Meet -- Join the Michigan women's gymnastics team in their annual Flip for Chip Meet as we honor the life of Chip Hills, father of former Michigan gymnast Cailee Hills, and celebrate the passion and enthusiasm that Chip showed for the team.
• #GoBlueWearPurple -- Pull out your favorite purple clothes to match Michigan's purple leotards for the meet. The first 2,000 fans will receive purple poms.
• Celebrating Women's History Month -- Fans will have the opportunity to write letters to women who have impacted and inspired them, as well as take pictures with their letters. Located on the concourse near the Hall of Honor from 5:30-6:15 p.m., the letter-writing event is open to all fans in attendance on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Wolverine Kids Club Day -- All Wolverine Kids Club Members are invited to attend this meet. Kids club members must claim their complimentary tickets in advance using the promo code in the event on the app.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team (9-5) returns to Crisler Center on Friday (March 8) at 6:45 p.m. when it hosts the ninth annual Flip for Chip Meet against No. 20 Georgia (2-6).
Notes
• This Friday's meet is the ninth annual Flip for Chip meet in which the Michigan women's gymnastics team honors the life of Chip Hills, father of former Michigan gymnast Cailee Hills. The Wolverines have an 8-0 record in Flip for Chip meets, defeating Minnesota in 2023 and scoring a program-best 49.625 on the balance beam.
• The Wolverines head into week 10 ranked seventh nationally and rank inside the top-15 in all four events. Michigan ranks fifth on floor exercise, eighth on beam, 13th on uneven bars and 14th on vault.
• Individually, Sierra Brooks ranks in the top 10 nationally on floor (third) and in the all-around (seventh), while ranking 12th on uneven bars, 14th on the beam and 15th on the vault. Gabby Wilson also ranks inside the top 25, ranking 13th on floor and 15th in the all-around, while Carly Bauman ranks 15th on the uneven bars.
• Brooks was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the fifth straight week and the 11th time in her career following an all-around score of a 39.650 at No. 1 Oklahoma. She scored a 9.900 or higher on three events, including a team-best 9.950 on the uneven bars and a 9.925 on floor exercise and also also tied a team-high 9.900 on the balance beam. In week nine, Brooks continues to lead the conference in the all-around, bars and beam while ranking second on floor and third on vault. Shw also ranks sixth nationally in the all-around, third on floor, 11th on bars and 12th on the beam and vault.
• Following injuries to the Michigan lineup, the Wolverines have used their depth as Carly Bauman competed in the all-around for the first time and Paige Thaxton competed on floor at the Big Five Meet. Farah Lipetz and McCaleigh Marr also have debuted on the uneven bars for U-M in the past three weekends. Bauman competed on vault for the first time in her career and scored a 9.750 and earned a 39.425 in the all-around after she notched a 9.925 on the uneven bars and matching 9.875s on beam and floor. Sophomore Thaxton competed in the floor lineup for the first time at the Big Five Meet after exhibitioning against Rutgers the week prior. She stepped into the role and posted a 9.875 in her Wolverines debut and followed it up with a 9.825 at No. Oklahoma. Lipetz and Marr have competed once in the uneven bars lineup for the Maize and Blue, with Marr earning a 9.900 at No. 1 Oklahoma.
