
Spirit Team Takes Home Game Day National Title

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The University of Michigan spirit team continued its string of success in the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championship Thursday-Saturday (April 11-13) in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Wolverines took home a Game Day Division IA title for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
In the Spirit Rally Division IA category, U-M took second with a finals score of 96.275 to earn the runner-up finish behind Florida (96.3625). The Wolverines rallied to beat their preliminary score by nearly three points after sitting in fourth of the prelim competitions.
The Game Day finals saw the Wolverines take home the title with a 95.0334 score, besting BYU (94.6917) and UTSA (89.0084). The U-M cheer team was joined by the Michigan Marching Band members in the Game Day competition.
The Game Day win gives U-M 11 NCA championships since 2013. The Wolverines have won seven Coed Division IA titles -- with four straight in 2013-16, 2019 and 2021-22. Game Day wins have come in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2024.
