
Sutherland Sets Penn Relays 400-Meter Hurdles Meet Record

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Savannah Sutherland and Samantha Saenz represented the No. 24-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team at the Penn Relays on Thursday (April 25) at Franklin Field, with Sutherland setting the meet record in the 400-meter hurdles.
Two weeks after posting the fastest time in the world (54.86 seconds) at the Tom Jones Invitational, Sutherland posted a 55.36 in the 400-meter hurdles for the win and break the meet record. The previous standard (55.58) was set in 1995 by Lade Akinremi of Arizona State.
Saenz competed in the 5,000-meter run, finishing 17th with a time of 16:20.85.
The Wolverines will return home to U-M Track and Field Stadium to host the Len Paddock Open on Saturday (April 27) at 11 a.m. Senior Day recognition will follow the conclusion of the meet.
