
Michigan Falls to No. 1 Ohio State in B1G Tournament Championship Match

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team lost 4-1 in the Big Ten Tournament Championship to No. 1-ranked Ohio State on Sunday (April 28) at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center on the campus of Northwestern.
Gavin Young provided U-M a victory at No. 1 singles, as the 19th-ranked Wolverine defeated No. 33 Justin Boulais 6-1, 6-4. Young jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set for the win, while he trailed in the second. Down 4-2 in the second, Young won four straight games to take the win 6-4.
Bjorn Swenson put up a battle at No. 4 singles, as Ohio State held a 3-1 lead on the scoreboard. Down 5-2 in the second set, he rallied for four straight games to take a 6-5 lead before he and No. 16-ranked JJ Tracy went into a second-set tiebreaker. Tied at 2-2, Tracy won three straight points to take the lead and used the momentum to a 7-4 finish to clinch the title for the Buckeyes.
Will Cooksey and Nick Steiglehner were still on court and left their matches abandoned.
Patorn Hanchaikul had a three-match win streak come to an end with a loss to No. 29 Jack Anthrop at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0, while Jacob Bickersteth fell to No. 18-ranked Cannon Kingsley at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1.
Young and Bickersteth were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
The NCAA Selection Show will take place Monday (April 29) at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com. Individual selections for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be announced Tuesday (April 30).
