NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- For the first time in program history, the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team has an IWLCA individual award winner as junior Erin O'Grady was named the Goalkeeper of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday (May 29).
O'Grady started 19 games in the cage for the Wolverines, leading the nation with a 7.34 goals-against average and ranking second in save percentage (.549). She made 150 saves this season and became just the fifth goalie in U-M history to record 100 saves in a single season.
O'Grady produced six games with double-digit saves this year, including 10 saves against No. 4 Notre Dame in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She was a three-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and a three-time National Defensive Player of the Week honoree. O'Grady also was the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year, an Inside Lacrosse and IWLCA All-American and an all-region selection.
