
Wolverines Set for Regional Play at Auburn

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 36th-ranked University of Michigan women's golf team will begin its 17th NCAA postseason appearance heading the Auburn Regional, Monday through Wednesday (May 6-8) in Auburn, Ala. The three-day, 54-hole regional will be played at the Auburn University Club, and the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Finals. The course will be set up for a par 72 and 6,456 yards.

• Order seeding for the Auburn Regional will be No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Houston, No. 8 Tulsa, No. 9 Miami (Fla.), No. 10 Kennesaw State, No. 11 East Tennessee State and No. 12 Albany. Competing as invited individuals include Anna Morgan (Furman), Audrey Ryu (Furman, Isabella McCauley (Minnesota), Lauren Thompson (Lipscomb), Gabi Nicastro (Samford) and Victoria Hund (Charleston).
• Throughout the regular season, U-M played with nine of the 12 regional teams and compiled a 9-7-2 record. The breakdown is South Carolina (0-0-1), Auburn (2-2), Oregon (1-0), Georgia (2-1), North Carolina (0-2-1), Houston (0-1), Tulsa (0-1), Miami (3-0) and East Tennessee State (1-0).
• As the No. 6 seed, Michigan will play its practice round on Sunday (May 5) at 9:45 a.m. CT off the 10th tee. U-M will be paired with No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 North Carolina for the first round on Monday (May 6) off the 10th tee starting at 8 a.m. CT. Tee times will be played in 11-minute increments.
• The NCAA regional will be played in a 5-count-4 format. With a new rule change, coaches will not have to designate a non-counter before each round.
• Senior Monet Chun, fifth-year senior Hailey Borja, sophomore Lauren Sung, freshman Sidney Yermish, and sophomore Mara Janess comprise U-M's starting five.. Sophomore Sydney Sung will travel as a substitute, or emergency player.
• The top five teams (30 teams) from the six regional sites and the top individual not on an advancing team (six total) will advance to play in the NCAA Finals Friday through Wednesday (May 17-21) at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
• Michigan is making its 17th overall NCAA postseason appearance and seventh under head coach Jan Dowling. In fact -- and despite the 2020 postseason getting canceled due to COVID-19 -- the Maize and Blue are playing in its fifth straight regional. Under Dowling, the Wolverines have advanced to the NCAA Finals four times (2016, '17, '21, '22).
• Chun heads into the regional having won her last two events -- the Chattanooga Classic and the Big Ten Championship (tri-medalist). The recipient of the Big Ten's Mary Fossum Award for lowest-scoring average, Chun became the 12th Big Ten golfer to win a second conference title after her 2022 individual win helped U-M to its first Big Ten championship. Chun has finished as the top Wolverine in six of the 10 events and leads U-M with a 71.48 scoring average.
• Chun became U-M's second Big Ten Golfer of the Year honoree joining former All-American and teammate Ashley Lau, who earned the program's first award in 2022. Chun added her second first-team honor after her selection in 2021 while adding the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year honor. She earned All-Big Ten honors all four years after adding second-team selections in 2022 and 2023.
