ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan softball head coach Bonnie Tholl announced Thursday (June 20) the addition of transfer Reganne Bennett to the Wolverine program. Bennett, the 2023 Michigan Softball Gatorade Player of the Year, will be a sophomore in 2024-25 and have three years of eligibility remaining.
"We are thrilled to bring Reganne back to her home state, where we believe she can accomplish her goals and help win titles for Michigan," said Tholl. "Reganne has incredible potential to do special things on the ball field and joins us with a key year of college ball already under her belt. Reganne possesses tremendous power -- both offensively and in the circle -- and I think she is really going to thrive here at Michigan."
A native of Novi, Mich., Bennett spent her first collegiate season at South Carolina, where she contributed on both sides of the ball as a hitting pitcher and infielder. She posted a 4-0 record from the circle in 2024 with a sterling 0.86 earned-run average and 21 strikeouts over 24.1 total innings pitched. Bennett also batted .286 Â (11-for-41) on the season with four home runs, 12 RBI and a team-best .634 slugging percentage.
As a senior at Novi High School, Bennett was named Michigan's 2023 Softball Gatorade Player of the Year after batting .598 with 20 doubles, 18 home runs, 63 RBI, a .664 on-base percentage and a 1.295 slugging percentage. In the circle, she posted an 11-5 record with a 1.12 ERA and 239 strikeouts over 131.2 innings pitched. In all, she posted a 1.29 career ERA and 545 strikeouts over three prep seasons and posted 43 home runs and 192 RBI. She was twice named to the MHSAA All-State First Team (2022, '23) and an All-State Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore (2021).
Bennett was ranked the nation's No. 18 recruit in the Class of 2023 by Extra Inning Softball. She played travel ball with the Turnin2, South Carolina Elite organizations and, in 2022, helped the Birmingham Thunderbolts 18 Premier squad capture the Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) national championship.
